About my social media

If you're reading my writing, you might be wondering how to follow (or avoid) me on social media. I've been back and forth with social media for a long time, first as an early adopter (I joined Twitter in 2006), then as an advocate, then a skeptic. Here's my current take.

I use social media as an "outpost" for sharing links to things I've written, and sometimes to interact with readers (answering questions, helping others, etc.) But otherwise my interaction on social media is minimal. I typically spend no more than one hour per week on social media because I have learned that any more than a minimal amount of use, ends up consuming a lot of time, energy, and creativity that is better expressed in other ways.

So, I invite you to follow me on social media, but keep your expectations low. It's a good way to get links to my writing or to ideas I want to signal-boost. But mentions or direct messages are unlikely to get any sort of timely response. If you need to ask me a question directly, click on the Contact link at the top of this page and complete the form.

You can find me on the following networks:

I do not have an account on Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok or any other platform. I do have Facebook but it is for personal use only (and very rarely used).
